V-Force Customs
Having left the popular Discovery Channel/TLC TV show, American Chopper, Vincent DiMartino and Cody Connelly have broken out on their own and launched V-Force Customs.
According to the web site, V-Force will be unveiling it’s first custom bike at Daytona Bike Week, February 29, 2008, and Vinnie and Cody will be touring with Rob Hassay’s ProTour for the next 12 months.
I wish these guys the very best of luck in their new endeavor!

Subframe Connectors Now ESP Legal!!!
From the October Fastrack:
Insert new section 15.2.E after 15.2.D and re-label subsequent sections of 15.2 accordingly:
“E Longitudinal (fore-aft) subframe connectors (“SFCs”) are permitted with the following restrictions:
1. They must only connect previously unconnected boxed frame rails on unibody vehicles.
2. Each SFC must attach at no more than three points on the unibody (e.g. front, rear, and one point in between
such as a seat mount brace or rocker box brace).
3. SFCs must be bolted or welded, but welding must be to the OE subframe stampings, not to the floorpan in
between.
4. No cutting of OE subframes or floorpan stampings is permitted. Drilling is permitted for mounting bolts only.
5. No cross-car/lateral/triangulated connections directly between the driver’s side and passenger’s side SFCs are
permitted. Connections to OE components such as tunnel braces or closure panels via bolts are allowed and count
as the third point of attachment. No alteration to the OE components is permitted.
6. SFCs may not be used to attach other components (including but not limited to torque arm front mounts or driveshaft
loops) and may serve no other purpose.”
NOTE: This change affects Street Modified as well (see 16.1.G, which will be removed and superseded by the above).

Two days I said good-bye to a project of mine, a second failed attempt at building a car for C Prepared. But the car couldn’t have gone to a better home. Dennis, of AutocrossPictures.net, made the trek down from Dallas and picked it up. His plans are to continue to develop the car for the same class.
In other news, I’ve begun my big brake swap.
AOD to T5 Swap Complete
With the exception of a shifter knob and boot, the AOD to T5 swap is essentially done. However, there is more work to do to get the GT drivable. The following list of items is mostly for my own benefit:
- Air Filter
- Locking Header Bolts
- Header Gaskets
- 3.27 Speedo Gear
- 3-2 Port Booster Conversion
- Adjustable Brake Bias Knob
- SVO Emergency Brake Cable
- Axle Rebuild Kit
- Differential Rebuild Kit
- POR 15 (and cleaners)
- Assorted Tools
-
- Large Bearing Separator
- Slide Hammer and Puller Set
- 3 Piece 3 Jaw Puller Set
- Dial Caliper
- Dial Indicator (w/Magnetic Base)
The GT is Coming Along Nicely

The front clip and left front fender are replaced, and only need a little more aligning and tightening to be finished. The jackass that sold me the fender said it was a later GT fender, but it turned out to be the earlier model. I had to do a little impromptu fender modification to get the GT front skirt extension to mount. Admittedly not the best work, but it’s a quick fix, otherwise the fender would have been useless to me.

The AOD-to-T5 swap is nearly complete. Just have to finish bolting in the h-pipe, and troubleshoot a short in the neutral safety switch wiring. More to come.
